Winter is the time of year with shorter days, lower intensity sunlight, and colder weather leading to most people making less vitamin D in their skin due to less sun exposure. The result is that vitamin D levels decline markedly during the winter in people not taking vitamin D supplements. Scientists believe that this accounts in large part for why winter is also the time of year with higher rates of colds and flus. We’ve discussed this further in our article H1N1 / Swine Flu Risk Increased by Low Vitamin D. Read more…
Do you have an unsecured wireless network or wireless access point in your home or business? If so, you may think all you have at risk is somebody wasting your bandwidth. But there’s a lot more at risk than megabits per second here. If you’re running unsecured wireless networks, you may be setting up your friends, employees, family and yourself for being scapegoated as child pornography or identify theft criminals. Read more…
Parental alienation is a form of emotional abuse in which a normal positive parent/child relationship is damaged or destroyed by another party using emotional manipulation, threats, false accusations, and other means. It involves at least two basic elements. The first is an alienator engaging in access blocking to keep a child from seeing a parent. The second is a pattern of denigration and destruction of reputation to make the child dislike the parent. When parental alienation becomes severe and/or extended in duration, the child may start to avoid seeing the target parent, repeat the statements of the alienator as if they were the child’s own, and even make up new “reasons” to dislike having contact with the target parent. Often these “reasons” are complete nonsense and have little to no accuracy.
If you’re suffering as a target parent and are aware of parental alienation, probably none of this is news to you. However, what may be news to you is that parental alienation isn’t limited to the most commonly discussed situation of parents involved in divorce or child custody battles. For starters, you may be alienated from your children by your spouse while married. Read more…
As our readers may be aware, we’ve taken an interest in the judicial election in the Montgomery County 221st District. This is the district in which ill-reputed Judge Suzanne Stovall still serves through the end of her term December 31, 2010. Fortunately, there are four candidates running to replace her so voters will have a choice. We emailed the candidates to encourage them to discuss their experience and positions regarding family law, false allegations, parental alienation, and high-conflict divorces.
Today we’ve received a response from Lisa Michalk. Read more…
As I previously reported in DCF Poaching on the Tiger Woods, Elin Nordegren Kids?, Florida’s Department of Children and Families visited the home of Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren to investigate a child abuse complaint.
Now State Senator Ronda Storms of Florida is calling for an investigation of the complaint that led to this visit. She believes that the complaint was filed falsely and maliciously and if evidence exists to prove this, she wants the Orange County State Attorney to prosecute those responsible for the complaint. She’s concerned that false child abuse reports waste state funds needlessly and take away resources from children who really do need help. Read more…

On January 15, 2010, there will be yet another hearing in the long-running and highly destructive San Diego family law case of Cindy Dumas v. Eric Moelter that started in 2003. In this case, Dumas has alleged for years that Moelter sexually abused their children. The children corroborated some of these claims, but were viewed as potentially repeating misinformation and opinions programmed into them by their mother. Despite investigations that don’t agree with Dumas, she would not change her opinion or reach some resolution that would allow the children safe contact with both of their parents.
This article lays out many of the reported facts and statements and observable events and artifacts such as flyers and websites. Later I’ll be writing about my interpretation of the case and some of the problems with the manner in which the courts and law enforcement are handling this case and others like it. Read more…

Domestic violence (DV) is a bad thing, but in our society it is loaded with double standards. The video in this posting mocking Elin Nordegren and Tiger Woods is funny, but if it had been male-on-female violence do you think anybody would have made light of it?
By covering up what seems to have happened and going into hiding, Tiger has enabled Elin to be more capable to remove their kids from their father as she seems to be intent on doing. He’s also doing a disservice to domestic violence victims everywhere, especially abused men but also abusive women who need help to stop their behaviors.
Tiger has obviously made a lot of mistakes, but he could start trying to repair the damage. He should reveal what really happened with the golf club incident, speak up against domestic violence and philandering, and try to stay involved in the lives of his kids Sam and Charlie.
Just recently it’s come out that Judge Suzanne Stovall won’t be running for re-election as a judge in Montgomery County, Texas. She’s been repeatedly criticized for her judicial decisions and actions as discussed in a previous article. According to Incumbents gain opponents with last-minute filings published just a few days ago, Suzanne Stovall didn’t file an application to run for re-election: Read more…
