California Elkins Family Law Task Force Seeking Comments

The following is an email recently sent to parties who have expressed an interest in the work of the Elkins Task Force. They have recently posted their “draft final recommendations” document [1] for public review. They are asking for comments to be turned in by December 4, 2009, at 5pm. Skimming through the document, there are some good ideas and some really bad ones, too. If you’ve been affected by the corrupt disaster that is the family law courts in California, it would truly behoove you to take a look at what may be coming down the pike and submit comments to encourage them to pursue the good ideas and revise or abandon the bad ones. I’ll be posting more thoughts on it as I get a chance to read it in more detail.

Thank you for your interest in the work of the Elkins Family Law Task Force. You are receiving this message as a part of the Task Force’s continuing efforts to collaborate and seek input from interested and affected groups and individuals in its work. The Task Force is grateful to the many people who have submitted written comments or who participated in one of the two recent public hearings on the draft recommendations. The active involvement of people who have experience in the family courts has informed the work of the Task Force and will assist in improving the final work product.

We are writing today to remind you of the upcoming deadline to submit written comments on the draft recommendations. The comment period will end on December 4, 2009, at 5:00 p.m. Comments are welcome and encouraged. Please feel free to share this information. The Task Force wants to ensure that any interested person or organization has an opportunity to comment. The Draft Recommendations can be downloaded and comments may be submitted electronically via the comment form.
